Haha, I always see Android coming up with all type of funny names for their update – Donut, Froyo (frozen yogurt) etc. Now, Windows Phone is following the ‘trend’ too :P .

Anyway, there are a lot of good news for WP7 users with these upcoming software updates.  The “NoDo”, which stands for “no donut” will be coming up next month (February). This update is mentioned to have the copy and paste function, support for some additional Qualcomm chipsets, CDMA location support and some bugfixes.

That is an interesting figure, isn’t it? The Windows Phone 7 device was just launched (if I am not mistaken, about one and a half month ago) and up to date, more than 1.5 million phones has been sold worldwide. That sales figure was officially announced by Microsoft just 2 days ago.

From my point of view, the Windows Phone 7 OS has a great potential to succeed in years to come. Whether it can topple Android and iOS is another story because those OS are already in the field quite long and they can anytime buck up if the people behind the development of those OS realise that there is a potential rival for them.

The only thing that I could see is, Nokia made a big mistake by too much depending on their Symbian and being ignorant of their rivals. That is why today I can see their phones not giving them a good sales figure. I am expecting Meego OS to help Nokia climb up the staircase again.

After getting this device, it is time to do some preview of it :) The 1st look of this device impressed me quite a lot. Unfortunately, some of the limitations is not worth the price that we pay for (that is my personal opinion).

The Windows Phone 7 OS is fabulous. It is kept simple and at the same time highly functional. The size of the phone is also nice. It comes with a 4.3″ screen and slim enough to fit any pocket.

Some of the limitations that I’ve mentioned is the missing external memory card slot. If you would like to know why this option has been excluded, please refer HERE.

Other than that, you are actually paying for the OS (like how you pay for your home PC). So the price is hiked. I believe HTC Desire HD which runs on Android and has better functions should be cheaper than this HTC HD7.

Ok, let’s take a look at some of the photos :

It comes with charger, earphone and usb cable in the box. There is no CD (like PC Suite) inside the box.

Just came back from Maxis’s HTC HD7 preview. Erm, to be frank, the crowd was not great. Well, I was there at 4:20pm and it may be due to people still working at that time and also because it was a ‘by invitation only’ event.

I was the 9th person and since I was there early, I was just hanging around & looking at the brochure. There were a lot of HTC HD7 phones for preview as well. While testing the phone, I was impressed with the simple interface. I know that many of you find it to be boring but for me, it is simple and straight forward.

The moment I start my camera, damn, the battery went dead. Now I regret for not buying a proper camera phone :(

Maxis has officially announced their pricing for the latest Windows phone 7 – the HTC HD 7. The RRP for this model is RM2399 but you can buy it at a discounted price if you subscribe for 12 months or 24 months contract.

The price will be RM1699 for 12 months contract and RM1399 for 24 months contract.

For those who have pre-registered their device, the collection date is on the 24th of November, from 5pm to 9pm. If you have not pre-registered this device, no worries because the nationwide sale will start from the 26th November onwards.

If you are purchasing this device on 24th of November, you can try your best to be among the 1st 30 customers (which is not easy though) because you will get a FREE Jawbone Bluetooth Headset worth RM428 (I guess this is only for 24 months subscription)

By the way, please make sure that you get an email invitation like how I’ve got above before coming on the 24th to purchase your device. This is a RSVP event and you might end up in disappointment if you come without being ‘invited’ . :)

Executives from HTC and Samsung in Thailand have similar thoughts where they feel that Android and Windows Phone 7 will be dominating the mobile phone industry in years to come. These 2 OS will have great influence and big potential.

Surprisingly, Sitthichoke Nopchinabutr, the Mobile Marketing Lead from Thailand puts more hope on WP7 compared to Android. He has given a hint that the company will be producing more WP7 phones compared to Android.

For every 50 Windows devices, 24 would be Android models and just five would use the in-house Bada OS.

Well, that is very surprising. With some missing feature in WP7 e.g. copy-paste text and multitasking etc, is it possible for WP7 to do better than Android? Well, may be possible.

I need to get my self a WP7 and see how can the OS impress me before commenting further :)
