Great. BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) is getting cheaper and cheaper. Tune Talk is now offering BIS for just RM18/month. I am not sure how low will the price go after this but this is definitely a great deal for BlackBerry users.
Have you read my previous article regarding the 6% service tax on mobile prepaid where telcos has decided to push to its subscribers? I have a good news for you (which you have probably read in the newspapers anyway). The tax which was planned to be implemented on the 15th of this month has now been deferred.
Effective 15th of September, any reload coupon that you buy for your prepaid number will be taxed 6%. If you are a prepaid user, you will be getting a SMS about this anytime from your telco.
The 6% tax is also applicable for new starter packs. That is a sad case because the call charges (generally) on prepaid is already more expensive than postpaid. All this while, I thought that we were already taxed and that is why the call charges are higher on prepaid numbers. Unfortunately, I was wrong. All this while, our telcos were absorbing the cost (tax charges) ever since the prepaid system was first introduced in the year 1998. Because the tax percentage was increased from 5% to 6% recently, the telcos has decided to push all 6% to us now.

Tune Talk BIS also has restrictions like other telcos. Is RM28/month worthy for a limited service?

Today when I checked at Tune Talk’s website, they have updated their BlackBerry page by having a short “FAQ” at the main page itself which explains their BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service).

Earlier when Tune Talk launched their BlackBerry service @ BIS, the monthly rate was RM40 and the daily rate was RM1.50. I was not very impressed with that offer because it was a standard price which I can get anywhere else.
Sundays are becoming more special recently because the Telcos are offering best deals to keep in touch with your loved ones.
It started with Hotlink where they are offering RM1/hour call to Maxis/Hotlink numbers every Sunday and now, Tune Talk is giving discounts for on net calls.
How much discount will that be. Does 50% discount sounds too little to you? Hey, they are only charging RM0.16/minute for calls and if it is 50% discount…..oh my, that is cheaper than my postpaid calls
. Well, if you have buddies who are using Tune Talk, then you can save a lot. Well, you must have a Tune Talk number too
.
This offer is only for TOMORROW @ 29th May 2011. So, make use of it
.

Early this month, Tune Talk came up with a brand new web layout for their site. The concept of the brand new site was to enable users to get everything in a single page. All we need to do is to navigate mainly from left to right & sometimes even up & down when required.
When I tried that new layout, I was not very comfortable with how it worked overall. Well, I believe many felt the same way too and that is why Tune Talk has rolled back to their old web design which is simple enough for anyone to use.
I am not sure whether this move is just temporary until they fix all bugs from the new design but I hope that Tune Talk keeps their new web design as simple & user friendly as the old (current) one
.

It was being a mystery all these while about subscription of Tune Talk’s BlackBerry service. Well, that was probably because of their not so user friendly website. Now, everything has been stated black & white by Tune Talk.
From the image above, all I can assume is, Tune Talk is offering the following BlackBerry phone models :
- Curve 8520
- Curve 9300
- Bold 9780
- Torch 9800
