If you realise, the price of Samsung Galaxy S II has gone down tremendously since it was launched, and this is the best selling phone at the moment.

Are you saying that it is OK for the price to drop about RM200 in just 2 months? Alright, fine. Then, why did Maxis removed Samsung Galaxy II, a bestseller from their Android smartphone page?
I will now come straight to the point. Any official Samsung Galaxy S II set (SME set) that you are buying at the new price is actually a different version. Do you know that? The 1st release (the one priced at RM2099) was Galaxy S II GT I9100. The newer release (RM1899) is Galaxy S II GT I9100G . Take note that there is a ‘G’ at the end.
How much different is this new ‘G’ version compared to the previous one? As I know, the CPU and GPU in the new version has been changed. As for the CPU, I don’t know whether the performance is affected but yes, the GPU is a downgrade in this new version. It is the same GPU used in Samsung Galaxy S, the 1st Galaxy series phone from Samsung.
What else has been changed? Those are the 2 things that I am aware of. By the way, for those who wants to root their phone and install custom ROMs such as Cyanogenmod or MIUI or anything else, this phone is not for you. The current SGS II ROMs that you can find in the internet are not compatible for the ‘G’ version. Take note of that.
If you are not a person who is going to root your phone and you are OK with the downgrade of GPU, then here is link to DiGi’s promo page. You can also buy it via DiGi Online Store. It is now available in black and also white.
