Celcom today has introduced Instanet, a prepaid internet plan for consumer. There are 3 types of plans offered, which is the Instanet Daily, Instanet Weekly and Instanet Monthly.
The prepaid pack (for 1st time users) is sold at RM12.50 and it comes with a sim card and RM10 credit.
As for the plans, below are the details :
Advert :
2) Instanet Weekly – a weekly internet plan (7 days) which gives you a total of 1GB quota and speed up to 512Kbps for just RM18/week.
3) Instanet Monthly – a suitable monthly internet plan for basic internet surfers who need internet access almost everyday. Pay just RM50 for 30 days and you can enjoy speed up to 512Kbps and bandwidth limit up to 1.5GB.

Speed wise, there is nothing impressive I would say. At 512Kbps, you can’t stream videos or play any online games but with the quota given, obviously the Instanet is not meant for that purpose. However, 512Kbps speed is quite low even for web surfing I would say.
For a wireless broadband, I am not sure if the speed will be as consistent as Streamyx 512Kbps because I am currently using that Streamyx package and I already feel the frustration of waiting for some websites to load. Anyway, I am a hardcore web surfer (but I don’t stream videos etc) and this Instanet is not meant for someone like me as well.
Mind you, I am not saying that it is not a good plan, because I’ve not even tried it. All I am saying is, it is not suitable even for those who sits in front of the computer and surf internet (opening heavy content sites) all day long. The speed and bandwidth limit is never going to be enough for you.
By the way, please take note that you have to pay additional amount based on “pay-per-use” rate once you have exceeded your bandwidth quota.
PROMO : Celcom @ Instanet is currently having an offer where you just need to pay RM30 for the 1st month if you subscribe to Instanet Monthly plan. This offer is only available from 27th June to 27th July.
