Yesterday, Maxis has introduced 3 new wireless broadband plans. These plans are catered for hardcore web users such as those who stream a lot e.g. YouTube and/or download a lot. I’ve mentioned about one of the plans in my previous post. Well, I will go through all the plans again
.
For all these plans, the speed are uncapped, which means you will get the best possible speed (maximum up to 7.2Mbps). However, the speed also depends on external factors such as location, device capability, distance from transmitting tower and number of people using the internet in your area at that point of time. Most of the time, you will not be able to achieve the maximum speed but from what I’ve tried before, you will get a decent speed.

From the image above, you will have a clear picture about the 1st 2 plans & bundled offers. Now, I will briefly explain about the 2nd plan(shown above) which is the Ultimate Pro plan where you will enjoy 12Gb bandwidth quota. The actual price of this plan is RM188. However, you are only required to pay RM148 for the 1st 24 months because you have signed up for a contract together with a bundled device. Once your contract has been fulfilled, you will no longer enjoy the RM40 rebate.
The 3rd plan is the most expensive plan, which is called Ultimate Solid. That name sounds very bombastic
. You will enjoy 16Gb bandwidth quota if you sign up for this plan. The price is RM152 for the 1st 24 months and after that, you are required to pay RM248 every month. So the rebate for the 1st 24 months is RM96/month.
One thing that I realised for the 3rd plan (Ultimate Solid) is, I only have the option to select HTC Flyer. That is quite weird because HTC Flyer is running on Gingerbread (at the moment) which is an OS for mobile phones. How much data is an OS made for mobile phone consume compared to the other 2 devices? That is weird. Well, probably Maxis will offer more devices together with Ultimate Solid plans in the near future (HINT : Maxis will soon sell iPad 2 with Ultimate Solid Plan. You will enjoy a rebate of RM79 for the 1st 24 months if you choose iPad 2
)
Now, I know that some of you will have these questions running in your mind :
1) Can I just buy the device at RRP without subscribing to the plan?
Answer : yes, you can. That will not be a problem.
2) Can I just get the plan without purchasing the device?
Answer : no, you can’t.
3) Can I make calls or send SMS with this plan?
Yes, you can. The call rate is RM0.20/min nationwide and sms rate is RM0.16/sms nationwide. International calls follow the postpaid IDD rate.
Also take note that you are required to pay a non-refundable fee of RM100 when you sign up for Ultimate Plus plan. This fee is waived for the other 2 plans. You are also required to pay RM200 for all the plans and this amount will be deducted from your bills.
