To those who are planning to buy a white iPhone 4, please take note that you may not be able to find suitable pouch or cases for it. You may ask me, ” are you mad, Rodger? If a case can fit a black iPhone 4, then it should fit the white one as well.”

Well, I wish that I can make you happy by saying, ” YESSSS…I am crazy!!” but the image above (taken from Engadget.com) proves that I am still sane .

From the image, you can see that both iPhone 4 black and white were put next to each other. The thin black thing that you see is a pencil lead and from there, obviously the white version is slightly thicker than the black one.

Question : why is the white version thicker than the black one?

Answer : Apple needed to add some extra UV protection for the white version so that it will reduce some clash between the white cover and internal components. I don’t have a scientific explanation but if you need more clarification, you probably need to look for Steve Jobs then .

With that UV protection thing that caused the white version to get about 0.2mm fat, I am wondering whether it will be a real problem for you to fit in a case which was made for the black version. It will probably be a little tight but it should still fit isn’t it?
