Google has recently launched the Google Docs app for Android phones. What can this Google Docs app do? Sometimes, we wish that we could access our documents whether it is a word, spreadsheet or presentation, while we are far away from our computer.

Well, it may not be a good experience to view a document on a 2-3 inches screen but when you have no choice, you will definitely have to do it. I’ve done it many times because I receive a lot of emails with text documents or spreadsheet attached to it, while I am on the move.

So the Google Docs app comes in handy in that way. You can access all your files which is located in docs.google.com by using this app. If you need to edit some of the files or send them to your colleague, that is also possible.

Not only that, the Google Docs app for Android supports optical character recognition (OCR) where you can just make use of your phone’s camera to scan a hard-copy document and transfer it into a soft-copy. Of course, it is not perfect as in it can’t read handwritings, text in other languages except English and some fonts. Google have mentioned that they are making it better, so you can expect an updated version with better OCR capability soon.

If you would like to download it, you can scan the code below using your Android phone or download the app via Android Market.
