When Astro mobile TV was launched, it was only made available for Maxis customers. I was able to see the relation there but I wondered why wouldn’t Astro want to make profit by offering it to other telco as well?
I believe the people in Astro have felt that way too, or probably it took them time to discuss and come up with an agreement with other telcos before offering their services.
Now, if you are a DiGi user, you have a chance to enjoy Astro Mobile TV as well. Anyway, it is not exactly the same as watching Astro on your TV. You will only have a few live channels and the rest will be video on demand (VOD) and looped channels.

The latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet, Motorola Xoom became the ‘victim’ of tear down by iFixit
. From the tear down, looks like it is very easy to repair the device because iFixit has rated the Motorola Xoom as 8 out of 10 (10 being the easiest). Well, of course, the ‘easiest to repair’ claim is after you manage to open all 57 screws
.
It was also mentioned that the LCD panel is not fused to the board. That will be a good news because if happens that your LCD broke (this is not a good news anyway), you can easily change it. Other than that, all external components such as camera etc are separately attached to the motherboard. It means that you can easily replace each component without hassle.
A detailed tear down process can be found at iFixit website (LINK)

Do you want to play Angry Birds from your BlackBerry phone? Well, obviously you can’t do that yet. Rovio has not developed that famous game for BlackBerry phones.
However, you can still have the feel of Angry Birds by playing this game entitled Angry Farm
. This game which was developed by Smarter Apps, is very much similar to the original game. The only difference that I see is, you will have cow, chicken and many other farm breeds to replace the bird and fox to replace the pigs
.

When DiGi launched its Easy Prepaid Plan before, we are allowed to call 3 of our Buddyz numbers for FREE, remember? Yes, it was free day and night but now it is no more. DiGi has made changes to Buddyz where you can still make FREE calls but it is only going to be from 12am to 8pm.
Well, that is not too bad I see but why is that change for? I always think hundred times before taking up any DiGi prepaid plans because they will eventually get from bad to worse. I assume that DiGi realise a lot of Easy Prepaid users are making use of their free calls from 8:01pm – 11:59pm and that will be a good time to make some quick bucks. It is quite frustrating because it is not the 1st time.
Ever since I got my Maxis MiFi device and 2 months of free trial for Maxis Wireless Broadband, I had this urge to do a speed test at various locations. There is a reason for that. While I was collecting my device and registering for a data plan at Menara Maxis, I was told that Maxis has upgraded their infrastructure.
Well, I believe it is true. Last year I had a chat with one of my friend who is working in DiGi. That time, DiGi has newly launched their 3G services and my friend told me that DiGi’s 3G services will be better than its competitors (at that point of time). The reason being is, Maxis and Celcom has launched their 3G services much earlier and during that time, the hardwares used will not be as “high-tech” as the hardwares today.
However, my friend also mentioned that Maxis and Celcom are upgrading their network and will soon catch up.
Well, that could also be the reason for me to get a MiFi device and trial internet NOW although Maxis has launched their internet/3G services long time ago.
Ok, that was all about my reason to get the speed test done. My initial plan was to do a speed test in the whole Klang Valley which covers Rawang, Ampang, KL, PJ, Subang, Shah Alam and Klang. Unfortunately, I could only do it around KL area due to time constraints. These are the places that I’ve done a speed test :
1) National Library, Jalan Tun Razak
2) Jalan Pasar, Pudu
3) Berjaya Times Square
4) KLCC
5) Wangsa Walk, Wangsa Maju
6) Carrefour Wangsa Maju
7) Giant Batu Caves
8 ) The Mall, near PWTC
9) KL Sentral
10) Mid Valley Megamall
Overall, I would say that the speed is decent. Well, it is not the best speed but I am very happy with it. Most of the time, the download speed was more than 1Mbps. There were times where the speed was just 200Kbps ++ but that was because I was not able to get a 3G coverage.

Are you planning to get yourself a Nokia E7? It is Nokia’s communicator version which runs on Symbian^3 and has a lot of great features like 4″ screen, clear black display and many more. If you have plans to buy this device, then there is no harm to get yourself registered in Maxis’s Nokia E7 interest registration page.
Once the phone is launched in Malaysia by Maxis, they will contact you to notify the price and Maxis bundled package details.
At the moment there is no indication for the price but I feel that the RRP will be about RM2000 to RM2200. Well, that is just my guess. Let’s see how accurate can my guess be.
Here is the LINK to the interest registration page.

What stops you from getting a BlackBerry Torch 9800 from Maxis? It is all because of color, then you can already plan to get your WHITE BlackBerry Torch from Maxis now
Well, it will be nice if they can offer the red version as well but….erm, I like the red version more than the black/white version :)
Anyway, that is just me. By the way, who said that BlackBerry must only be BLACK?

If you are planning to subscribe to DiGi Smart Plan and get a device from DiGi, this will be the best time. Why? You can enjoy your Smart Plan for just RM23 per month. Oops, did I mentioned to you that the price is applicable only 1st 6 months? Yup, that’s right. You will be paying RM23 only for the 1st 6 months and after that, it will go back to the normal price of RM63.
Erm, am I confusing you again? Well, from what I see, you can only subscribe for this plan if you register your credit card for direct debit. That is how you get RM23 for the 1st 6 months and RM63 after that (including RM5 rebate for direct debit). So now, some of you may find it to be still interesting while the rest will already say, “this is crap”
