That was a long coffee break :) . Well, I have a lot to talk about emails, social networking, web surfing and other aspects of this phone. By sharing the same page (part 1), it will be just too long. I am sure that it will make you feel tired and bored. That is why I planned to write a separate one for this.

When it comes to keeping in touch with others, whether with your loved ones or with your clients (related to business), this phone will not fail to impress you :)

Display, connectivity and battery life

The display of this phone is good. It is not the best but I am satisfied with it. Anything displayed on the S-LCD 3.7″ display is bright and clear. The screen is glossy but I don’t have much problem viewing it even under direct sunlight.

After a week having this device with me, I am now ready to say a few words about this device. Well, it will not be a detailed review as how you can see at other websites. The reason being is, my reviews are more towards a consumer’s point of view. I do not want to be too technical and confuse my readers. So my review will be simple and straight forward. By the way, have you read my PREVIEW about the HTC Desire Z? If you have not, this will be the best time to read :) . HERE is the link.

Switching from Samsung Galaxy Tab to HTC Desire Z made me feel a little uncomfortable at first but it did not take me very long to get used to it. Both were Android phones but the user interface (UI) was quite different in both devices. Well, I guess Samsung has optimised the UI to suit a tablet PC.

The Huawei Ideos will be the 2nd Android tablet from Maxis. The best part is, this phone is about RM1,100 cheaper than the great Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab and those who couldn’t afford a tablet PC all this while have not reason to say that again. :)

The recommended retail price (RRP) for this model is RM1599. You can also get it under a contract where you only pay RM999 for 12 months contract or RM899 for 24 months contract. As the difference between 12 months contract and 24 months contract is just RM100, I suggest you to get the 12 months contract instead. More information about the contract and subscription of package can be found in the image below.

This device comes with 12 months warranty and for Huawei products, the authorised distributor will be Ten Ten Telecommunications Sdn Bhd.

Based on my observation all this while, Samsung has recently became a rival for Apple. It all started with iPhone 4 where Samsung came up with an Android phone to grab some market share from Apple. Most of you already know what phone is that – the infamous Samsung Galaxy S :) .

Tablet PC existed very long ago but never got a good response from consumers. People will either go for a laptop or if they need anything smaller, it will be a netbook. Apple changed it by coming up with iPad and the perception of people towards the tablet PC changed entirely ever since then. Samsung came in again, with a super-sized Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Now, Samsung has targeted the iPod with the belief that Android has the power to do it, even as a music player. That is why Samsung has named this new device as, “Galaxy Player”. Anyway, nice to see some competition out there. Only when there is competition, the companies (in this case, Apple and Samsung, or shall I say Android?) will come up with better features at a lower price, I hope :)

Well this Samsung Galaxy Player is not out in the market yet. It will be unveiled by Samsung at the CES 2011 event. More info from this link – [SOURCE]

The first thing that made me attracted to this HTC Desire Z was its keyboard. I was never a fan of touch screen. The reason was because the screen of a mobile phone is very small and I often end up clicking the wrong link or typing a phrase full of spelling errors.

Even with a 7 inches screen of a Samsung Galaxy Tab, I still make mistakes while typing.

I feel that being not savvy with touch screen typing makes me an outdated person during the iPhone era. Luckily, HTC is aware that people like me still exist.

Typing using the HTC Desire Z’s keyboard is a breeze. I have the same enjoyable feeling that I had when I used a blackberry Bold and Nokia E71. In fact, such layout which is implemented for HTC Desire Z is suitable even for big fingers.

(I typed all the above using my HTC Desire Z’s keyboard)

I am quite surprised. Did you know that DiGi was the 1st to offer HTC 7 Mozart in Malaysia? It will always be Maxis to start off and DiGi will be the last one to come in. Now, it is just the other way round. Anyway, it will be good for Maxis users who wants to try a Windows Phone 7 device without paying much.

Have you heard of the new feature in HTC Sense where you can almost track your phone if it is lost? Well, it is quite cool. There are few features that you can activate remotely which are call forwarding, message forwarding, make your phone ring at full volume, phone locking and a full format (remotely) which erase everything in your phone. Not only that, it also shows your phone’s location on a map. :)

Alright, I will now explain on how this function works.

Firstly, you need to register a HTC Sense account. This can be done via the phone itself of via the website – www.htcsense.com. Once that is done, you need to sign in via your phone and viola, it is complete. After that you can modify the setting from your phone by going to settings > locations.

Sony Ericsson will be having a sale at The Mines MIECC Exhibition Centre, this weekend. To be exact, it will be from tomorrow (24th December 2010) up to this Sunday (26th December 2010). What are the offer like? Erm, for me, it is not really an offer. I only see RRP @ recommended retail price on the brochure, which is definitely expensive than what you can get elsewhere. Anyway, since they mentioned ‘penjimatan hebat’ which means fantastic savings, I hope that the price offered there is much cheaper than the RRP.

Erm, I understand that the image is just too small for you to read anything. Please click on the image to get a larger view. It it is still small, you can also download the original image from HERE.

If you would like to know more about this promotion, feel free to visit Sony Ericsson’s Facebook page (LINK).
