Good. Finally, Maxis has also revealed their pricing structure for the new Blackberry Torch 9800. Well, by looking at the website, have they changed the overall pricing structure for BIS? Hey, before they used to offer in a bundled package including BIS isn’t it? So is it more expensive or cheaper now?

Maxis has set their RRP at RM2299. Looking at the contract, if you take up BIS Standard + a 12 months contract, you only save RM200. There is not much savings anyway. Well, this is fine if you are sure that you are not going to change your phone for the next 12 months.

By looking at their page, I have some doubts.

Samsung Galaxy Tab-Motorola Charm-Motorola Flipout* Please click on the image for a larger view

Wow, looks like Maxis has more gadgets to offer in their Android section now. I was targeting for the Samsung Galaxy Tab but the 2 Moto’s below that, the Charm and Flipout looks great as well. I guess these are the 1st Android models to have physical QWERTY keyboard. Furthermore, it is great to see Motorola again in Malaysia :)

Wondering why Maxis don’t have them in their Maxis 10 Reviewers list. Nice to review those gadgets and share thoughts on how do they fare compared to the rest of the Android devices.

Finally, the Blackberry Torch is showing up here in Malaysia. Two major telcos in Malaysia, Celcom and Maxis, are having their 1st day sales or pre-registration sales today. The price with BIS subscription was also revealed. I am wondering what DiGi is doing there? Well, their style is to observe what others got to offer and then come up with a better deal, isn’t it? :P

Alright, below is the BIS subscription details for Blackberry Torch 9800 with Celcom:

Erm, I am wondering why the word “promotional” is there for RRP . Does that mean that Celcom may increase the price? Nah, marketing gimmick I guess :P

By the way, did anyone went to their 1st day sales today, at La Bodega Pavilion? Who manage to get this phone at RM8? If you were not able to go, no worries as you can visit any Blue Cube outlets from the 3rd November onwards to get one for yourself. At RM8? Yeah, right….keep on dreaming :P

You should watch the movie. Well, there is no real story there. It will definitely not get a spot in Blockbuster, but hey, it was shot entirely using a Nokia N8. You should watch it. Amazing quality. Well, I was told that there will be a bedroom scene with Pamela Anderson but I didn’t see any :(

Is tomorrow an auspicious day or something? I am wondering why would 2 telcos have their sale for Blackberry Torch 9800 on the same day. Previously I’ve mentioned that Celcom is having their sales at La-Bodega tomorrow (LINK).

What about Maxis? If you have made a pre-registration for your Blackberry Torch 9800 from Maxis website, you can collect it tomorrow at their HQ – KLCC from 2pm onwards. Oops, you need to receive an email from them because it is just for 100 selected people. If you have done your pre-registration but have not received any invitation, then you may need to wait for their further announcement.

Their RRP is RM2299 but I guess it is a must to subscribe to their BIS plan in order to get the Torch from Maxis. From the image above, you will have an idea on the BIS packages that are offered. There is BIS PRO (RM90/month) and BIS Standard (RM55/month).

So, is anyone going tomorrow to collect your BB Torch? Keep me updated on what do you think about this phone :)

Yes, looks like Celcom is going to start selling Blackberry torch 9800 tomorrow. They have made an announcement but it is kind of “surprise” where nothing much was mentioned except for they are going to sell this phone. Erm, yup, there is no price stated as well.

Any idea after reading the message above? Alright, I think it is time for me to explore and find out more details about this. Oops, there is also another surprise for you. Maxis is also starting their sales for Blackberry Torch tomorrow. More info in my next post :)

UPDATE 29/10/2010 – Do you want to know what is currently happening there? Here are some shots for you – (LINK)

By looking at the image above, what comes to your mind? Yeah, I have the same thought too. It looks exactly like Blackberry Bold 9700 isn’t it? I guess this is where RIM fails. Well, of course this model has some hardware upgrades but then, if RIM continues doing this, it kills off the demand for the older model like Bold 9700 which still has some attraction.

As for hardware, This Bold 9780 comes with a 5 Megapixel camera (Bold 9700 is having a 3.2Megapixel camera) and 512Mb onboard memory (Bold 9700 comes with 256Mb onboard memory). Not only that, the Bold 9780 also comes with the latest Blackberry OS6 which doesn’t make a difference to me if I compare with Bold 9700. Why? Because Bold 9700 can support OS6 as well.

It is time for Blackberry to hire some good designers and come up with something better.

Yes, Nokia has no plans to adopt Windows Phone 7 OS into their mobile phones. Below was what said by Niklas Savander, Nokia’s executive vice president and general manager for Markets, during an interview with CNET.

Currently, we don’t think the platforms out there which we are not using (Android or Microsoft) offers an incremental opportunity for us to add value that would sustain a competitive advantage over somebody else. So no plans.

That gives us an indication that Nokia is not planning to use any other OS. So the rumors which were previously saying that Nokia may come up with WP7 phones are not true. Well, it may change, in the future if things does not look well with Symbian or Meego. I was not surprised to hear that. Nokia has never used Windows Mobile OS even since before. Furthermore, by using other OS like Android and WP7, they will become like any other mobile phone hardware makers like HTC, Samsung, Sony Ericsson etc. As for me, Nokia has its own way of doing things. Nokia don’t want to be just a hardware manufacturer like others. It is unique and I like that :)
