Maxis has worked together with AirAsia to launch in-flight services. So what is this in-flight services? Usually if you board a plane, you are not allowed to use your mobile phone due to some interferences with flight systems. When this happens, you can’t make any emergency calls or send sms. If you are waiting for an important new business phone call, your new business is gone in the air too
So that is the purpose of this in-flight services. It is not only about calls & sms, you can even use your mobile internet while flying
.All you have to do is to wait for the “phone use prohibited” sign to go off & then on your phone. Viola, you can already use your phone (this is only applicable in selected AirAsia flights).

If you have plans to chat with your loved ones to fill up your boredom while you are in the plane, then this is an expensive option I would say.
Based on what I’ve said above, can you roughly guess how much the charges will be?
. Alright, please refer to the image below :
Whoops, “nice price” isn’t it?
RM11 per minute for a call is a bomb to your wallet. RM2 per sms is still ok I would say. Erm, did I saw it right? It is RM25 for 1Mb of data? Well man, 1Mb is gone by just opening 1 web page. That is way too expensive.
Well, again, this is for emergency purpose. If you are not having any emergency use but can afford it, then why not?
Oh…wait, I saw something which is FREE. That is nice of you, Maxis.
You can receive sms for free. So rest assured that you are not being charged for receiving smses. Free drinks are also given to lucky winners.
By the way, this is a trial service which will only be from 20th August to 24th November. Yup, I am a slowpoke. I agree…but hey, I know that most of you don’t even know this exists
. Anyway, although this service started in the August, only now it is kind of going on a full scale with promotions seen everywhere (especially Facebook)
