Hey, did you manage to grab your BB from the roadshow which was held in Mid Valley recently. Well, that was a good deal actually. They were selling BB Bold 9700 & Curve 8520 there. During happy hours, there was also BB Bold 9000 & Curve 8900 being sold there. It was a good one from DiGi.
I manage to grab a Bold 9000 from the roadshow. Being a Bold 9700 user previously, I am actually enjoying my Bold 9000 more than the 9700. There are reasons behind it which I will explain in my other post, soon
As for the roadshow, there were many pluses & minuses. Let’s looks at the pluses 1st. Firstly, the phones were sold at dirt cheap price. It was actually a very good deal for everyone who bought a phone from there. As for the Bold 9700 & Curve 8520, many of you already know how was the pricing structure like. For Bold 9700, it was RM1999 (retail) or RM1649 (12 months) or RM1299 (24 months). Curve 8520 was sold at RM1299 (retail) or RM899 (12 months) or RM549 (24 months).
During the happy hour promotion, the Bold 9000 (the boldest phone, at least for me :p ) was sold at RM999 only (12 months). They were also selling Curve 8900 @ Javelin at RM699 only (12 months).
Many would think that it is a trap because of the contract tie but if you look at it, you are actually not losing money. Let’s take bold 9700 (24 months) for example. Actual price is RM1999 & 24 months contract is RM1299. You save a whooping amount of RM700. This RM700 is the fee that you pay for 12 months for your DiGi BIS.
Ok, now we will look at the negative side. Firstly, it was a total mess there. Some of the promoters there didn’t have the product knowledge at all. They were actually giving wrong information to customers. When I purchased my Bold 9000, I was told at 1st that I cannot purchase it because I am already signed up to my Blackberry Smart Plan & I cannot sign up again for a contract. Luckily, I did some home work before going & I know very well that the promoter was wrong
Secondly, the T&C says that 1 phone for 1 NRIC only (which means 1 person can get only 1 phone at the offer price). What actually happened was, there were many people who manage to get more than 1 phone under 1 person. As for the billing, I am just wondering how would DiGi charge them :p
There were other hiccups during the roadshow like some of the phone models were out of stock, there were no place to sit, have to wait too long to get signed up etc, but overall it was a great event which should not be missed.
I wish DiGi would have more promotions like this in the future (with less hiccups of course :p )
